Important Update
Recent events have required that we announce some adjustments to this year's Corvette Funfest, which is scheduled to take place from September 14-16 here in Effingham, IL. We wanted to take a moment to explain what is going on to provide you with some context.
Some of you are already aware, but our founder and Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yager, recently experienced a health setback due to a heart attack. Mike has always been the heart and soul of Funfest, and his commitment to the Corvette community has been nothing short of remarkable. We are pleased to report that Mike is steadily on the path to recovery and is doing very well given the circumstances.
In light of his ongoing recovery and with his wellbeing being our top priority, we have made the decision to scale back this year's Corvette Funfest slightly compared to prior years. While we understand that this news may come as a disappointment, we believe it is crucial to ensure that Mike's healing process is not rushed and that he is given the time and space he needs to fully recuperate. Mike will still be here during the show as always, but will be limited more than he’s used to as he continues to heal.
Despite the adjustments, we want to assure you that the spirit of Corvette Funfest will remain alive and vibrant. Our dedicated team is still working diligently to organize an event that will celebrate our shared passion for Corvettes, but some areas will be scaled back slightly to adjust to Mike’s physical condition and simply to enable our limited staffing the ability to manage the show properly. There will still be opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts, participate in engaging activities, and revel in the camaraderie that makes Corvette Funfest so special.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your understanding and support during this time. Your well-wishes and encouragement mean the world to Mike and the entire Yager family as well as all of us working behind the scenes. We look forward to welcoming you to Corvette Funfest 2023, where we will unite as a community, celebrating not only the incredible machines we cherish but also the resilient spirit that defines us.
Please stay tuned for further updates and announcements in the coming weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our team at customer.service@mamotorworks.com, by calling (800) 500-1500, or reaching out to us over social media.
Thank you for being a part of the Corvette family. Together, we will make Corvette Funfest 2023 a memorable and heartwarming experience as always!

Corvette Funfest 2022 Update
As we continue planning Corvette Funfest 2022, we have decided to make some necessary changes for this year’s show. Corvette Funfest 2022 will now be a one day event held the day of Saturday, September 17th and will be FREE! If you have already registered and paid for this year’s show, you will receive a full refund, as well as an additional $25 Mid America Motorworks gift card per registration as a gift from us to you. Since the COVID-19 pandemic struck, we simply do not have the staff nor many of the local resources and volunteers we typically have available to put this year’s show on in full swing. This amazing one-day version of the show will provide all of the high-octane activities you love about Corvette Funfest at a pace our staff can handle. Events for that Saturday will still include live music and entertainment, food and drink vendors, the Corvette Clubhouse, and more! Effingham has so much to offer, and you won’t want to miss the special events and activities put on by the city throughout the day and evening on Friday, so come for the day, stay for the weekend!
As we accelerate ahead, we have already begun planning a very special event for Corvette Funfest 2023, as the show will be the kickoff of us CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS! The dates for next year’s event will be September 14th-16th, 2023!

Corvette Funfest 2021 Celebrates the Simpler Times
We keep hearing people say they want to get back to “normal.” For Corvette Funfest 2021, we’re taking it way back to when it all began. We’re mixing the tech and style of the 21st Century with the nostalgia and format of 1994. Just like the first year we welcomed the fans of America’s favorite sports car, Corvette Funfest will take place on the south side of our property. You’ll feel like you took a step back to the way car shows are supposed to be. As always, we’re still making plans daily, checking in with vendors and suppliers. We’re excited to see our Corvette family and we’re sure that this will be the one weekend of the year that you definitely won’t want to miss!

Paul Koerner Confirmed for Corvette Funfest 2021
When we were sure 2021 was a go, one of the first things we did was reach out to Paul Koerner. The GM World Class Certified Technician will be in attendance, presenting seminars, answering your questions and of course, doing hands-on vehicle checks. We’re still working out the details of Paul’s itinerary for this year, so check back as plans develop.

Prepare to be Entertained!
The main question we get at shows and in the MY Garage Museum is, “Who’s the entertainment for Funfest this year?” Now more than ever, we just can’t say. As more acts are putting dates on their calendars, we’re looking at several options. One thing we know is, you’re sure to be entertained! Will it be live music? A tribute band? Your favorite group back on tour? Stay tuned to find out!

Saturday Evening Entertainment
The Saturday evening entertainment for Corvette Funfest 2020 is still currently in development and we will have updates available as soon as possible. The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the music industry, resulting in numerous shows and tours being postponed or cancelled altogether. Because of this, many of the acts and performers we had been in discussion with earlier this year are having difficulty committing due to the uncertainty of their current schedules and state regulations. There will be live music for Saturday evening, but details are still being worked out at this time. Stay tuned for further updates!

26th Annual Corvette Fun Run Road Tour Changes Course
26th Annual Corvette Fun Run Road Tour Changes Course
Yager Homecoming Birthday Celebration Planned in Newton
EFFINGHAM – For the past 26 years, Mid America Motorworks has kicked off its’ annual Corvette Funfest event with a trip throughout area country sides, but this year will be different.
Mike Yager is taking his Corvette Funfest Annual Fun Run Road Tour, planned for Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, home to Newton, Ill. for his 70th birthday celebration.
“It’s an honor to be asked to return to my roots and share my Corvette passion with my hometown community,” he said. “We will be bringing 1,000+ Corvettes from our Annual Corvette Funfest, the largest Corvette party in the world, to the great city of Newton.”
The State of Illinois Champion 150-member Newton Marching Eagles Band will welcome the Corvettes on the downtown square. This will be a birthday party like no other.
Yager and his wife, Laurie, are ecstatic about the plans the City of Newton have made for this homecoming event. City officials have been working hard to create a safe and successful event. They have created a parade route, planned parking, and secured food vendors. Local businesses have extended their business hours as well.
"This is huge for Jasper County. Not only will this event show people from all over the nation how amazing our community is, but it also gives our local businesses a chance to obtain a different avenue of customers they haven't been able to in the past. I hope Mike Yager is ready, because Newton will be throwing a party that will be remembered for years," said Economic Development Coordinator Amber Volk.
Mike Yager, who founded Mid America Motorworks, a Corvette and Air-Cooled VW parts and accessories company in 1974, was invited by the City of Newton to come home.
“I have been Mayor since May of 2005. Throughout that time span, I have attended approximately 2,000 meetings. I have been to three meetings now regarding Mike’s legendary Corvette Fun Run Road Tour, and I have never attended meetings that were more enthusiastic and positive about an event. We have people coming to us for updates and offering to help. In my opinion, Mike’s homecoming will be short, but very, very sweet," said Mayor Mark Bolander.
In the days preceding this year’s 26th Annual Corvette Funfest event, Yager will visit Newton schools to share his life story.
“It’s no secret that without my high school typing teacher, Mrs. Bauman, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Yager. “I started my business with a two-page flier that I typed myself. In those early years, my ability to type quickly and accurately was the foundation for what was to come – 45 years in this business.”
All are invited to Mike’s Homecoming Birthday Celebration. There will be an evening of awards, prizes, great music, and food for a great night of fun!
Corvette Funfest is planned for Sept. 19-22, 2019. The theme of Corvette Funfest 2019 is American Horsepower. Hope to see everyone in Newton on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 for Mike’s 70th birthday party.

Mike Yager To Be Inducted Into Corvette Hall Of Fame
If someone had told 12-year-old Mike Yager on the day he saw his first Corvette that his newly-discovered passion would go from a hobby, develop into a business, and ultimately lead to his induction into the National Corvette Museum’s Hall of Fame, it’s hard to say how that young boy would have responded.
It was a Friday afternoon on May 26th, 1962, when Mike Yager saw his first Corvette; riding with his brother, Frank, in a big rig, headed East from St. Louis to get home for the Memorial Day Weekend celebrations. “I had no idea then, riding in the truck with my brother Frank, that my life would become totally involved and encircled by the Corvette,” Yager said. “Being nominated among the 2018 Hall of Fame inductees is not something I take lightly. This is the greatest achievement of my life.”
Induction into the Corvette Hall of Fame is the highest honor awarded by the museum; recipients are recognized for their contributions to the past, present and future of Corvette. Yager will join Tom Wallace, and John and Burt Greenwood at the August 31 Induction Ceremony and Banquet, which is part of the National Corvette Museum’s 24th Anniversary Celebration in Bowling Green, KY.
Mike Yager has always been a Corvette enthusiast first, owning over 300 Corvettes as well as numerous historically significant Corvettes. Yager founded a local Corvette Club 1971 and joined the National Council of Corvette Clubs. Throughout his ongoing NCCC membership, he has held various regional positions and later became a Board Member from 1978-1979. Mike has also served as an influential Board Member for the LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Wash.
Yager’s career began as a 20-year-old hoping to pay his admission to car shows by selling owner’s manuals, jackets, drinking glasses and more to the loyal Corvette constituency. After nearly 50 years in business under Yager’s leadership, Mid America Motorworks has grown into one of the world’s largest suppliers of aftermarket parts and accessories for Corvette.
As his experience and business progressed, Yager began sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm for America’s Favorite Sports Car with Corvette Clubs and others, including key members of the GM team. Through his connections within the Corvette industry, Yager was involved in the early planning stages of the National Corvette Museum and, like many of his peers, was excited about the prospect of seeing the Museum become a reality.
As the project advanced, Mid America Motorworks made many contributions to the Museum, including a $250K donation, in kind, consisting of retail products and cash. Yager was a driving force supporting the Annex Gift Shop, which would be a temporary Museum and Gift Shop that gave enthusiasts a taste of what was to come. Several Corvettes from Mike Yager’s MY Garage Collection have been loaned to the Museum, including one of the first cars to be displayed at the museum to Corvette Enthusiasts. Yager’s guidance in expanding on merchandise ensured that the Annex succeeded while plans moved forward for the Museum.
Through it all, Mike, the Yager Family and Mid America Motorworks were loyal supporters of NCM, organizing fundraising efforts like the Mid America Motorworks Round Up program on customer orders. Mike also participated in a friendly rivalry with fellow Corvette Enthusiasts' Larry Martin and Bob Patrella to see who could take the bragging-rights title of largest donor at Museum-related functions, raising funds for land acquisitions to further the Museum’s development.
Along with featured guests Dan Gale and Jim Perkins, Mike Yager was a presenting speaker at the opening of the National Corvette Museum in September of 1994. As one of the key-note speakers, Mike later led a special ceremony where a time capsule was buried to be opened on the 100th Anniversary of Corvette in 2053. It contained owner’s manuals and other Corvette-related items, including messages from former Corvette Chief Engineers Zora Arkus-Dontav, Dave Hill, Dave McLellan, Jim Perkins and close friend Dan Gale with their ideas of what Corvettes would be like on the 100th Anniversary. An identical time capsule is currently on display at the Mid America Motorworks Corporate Campus in Effingham, Ill.
As the National Corvette Museum settled into its home in Bowling Green, Yager joined the Board of Directors. Serving from 1997-2005, Mike helped the Museum through a difficult financial position as well as highlights such as leading the celebration of Corvette’s 50th Anniversary as Chairman of the Board from 2002-2003.
“Looking back at my time on the NCM board, I recognize that Wendell (Strode) has done a tremendous job managing the NCM, its assets and its growth over the years,” Yager said. “As a Board Member and Chairman we may have been on different pages from time to time, but we were always agreed that the NCM could contribute to the vibrancy of the Corvette community.”
While reflecting on his nomination, Yager joked that it was one of the few times he has been speechless in his life. “I assumed this would happen someday, but didn’t expect it would happen now. This is an honor that I will spend the next year celebrating and I will always cherish this life-time achievement.”
Yager operates Mid America Motorworks from Effingham, Ill. A true family business, the company includes Mike’s wife Laurie, and sons Michael, Jr. and Blake on the Executive team. Daughters-in-law Betsy and Tabbi Yager are also members of the Mid America Motorworks team. In addition to providing Corvette aftermarket parts and lifestyle items around the world, Mid America Motorworks also hosts Corvette Funfest annually, welcoming thousands of enthusiasts to the corporate campus for a weekend celebrating everything fun about America’s Favorite Sports Car.

Thank You for Making Corvette Funfest 2017 Unforgettable!
Opening Ceremonies on Saturday followed the trend of new additions, with the announcement of a new Funfest-type event in Nebraska next June. Mid America Motorworks is partnering with Harchelroad Motors to host an event at Motorsport Park Hastings that pairs the atmosphere of Corvette Funfest with High Performance Driver Education. Attendees to the Nebraska event will get two qualifying runs with a main run on the Sunday of the event.
Mike Yager received a special surprise at opening ceremony, as Corvette Clubs participated in a secret contest to “Look Like Mike.” Clubs sat in a special section, wearing red polo shirts and Mike’s signature straw hat, with print out copies of his face as a tribute and a thank you for his continued efforts within the Corvette hobby. Lookingglass Corvette Club had the most Mike Lookalikes, and each participant will receive a customized 2018 wall calendar as a prize.
Mike then noted that next year will be the 25th Anniversary of a little thing that began as a customer appreciation party and has grown into Corvette Funfest. In honor of that milestone, he announced to a surprised and happy crowd that registrations will be FREE for Standard and Club.
For guests who prefer premium services, Premium Registrations will be offered, making it only $25 to secure a prime parking space on the show field. Guests who wish to experience the ultimate Corvette Funfest weekend with an all-inclusive feel can choose the Ultimate Registration featuring the best parking on campus, drinks, meals and snacks, the 2018 event t-shirt and yearbook, a gift from the Yager’s and access to industry celebrities and VIPs for $250.00 per person.
Returning by popular demand, the Club Bartending Challenge gave Clubs the chance to raise funds for their chosen charities in the Funfest Cantina. This year Simply Corvettes raised the most tip money, which will be donated to victims of the recent hurricanes in Texas and Florida. The combined efforts of the seven Corvette Clubs raised nearly $4,000 in charitable donations to a variety of worthy causes, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Wreath’s Across America, and more.
Clubs were further recognized on Saturday with a never-before-organized expert panel featuring Presidents from eight of the nine in North American organizations that emerged within the hobby to provide other clubs with a guiding body for everything from sanctioning events to restoration specifications, and even insurance. Corvette Funfest was honored to welcome the National Council of Corvette Clubs, International Council of Corvette Clubs, United Council of Corvette Clubs, Ohio Corvette Club Alliance, Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs – Eastern Region, Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs – Western Region, National Corvette Restorers Society and Solid Axle Corvette Club.
Other additions to the World’s Largest Corvette Party included daily excursions to give guests a glimpse of the communities surrounding Effingham. Those feeling adventurous visited Moonshine, Ill. for a moonburger, as well as the Firefly Grill, Heron Cove Restaurant-Lake Sara and StangArts for a variety of different activities. These were in addition to the automotive and education-themed seminars that Corvette Funfest attendees are accustomed to enjoying on the Funfest grounds.
The World Classic Rockers took the stage Saturday night, living up to and surpassing all the stories and legends of their maiden performance at Corvette Funfest in 2012. Band members ventured out into the crowd to play and sing, with both Mike and Kenny Yager playing guitar during the encore song, as well as the Yager family singing backup and dancing on stage.
Corvette Funfest 2018 is scheduled for Sept. 20-23 in Effingham, Ill. Keep watching www.corvettefunfest.com for highlights from this year and details on how you can register for the 25th annual Corvette Funfest.

Corvette Funfest Achieves First in Corvette’s History
The Corvette hobby is shaped by the people - and more specifically the clubs - that live and breathe Corvette. Over the years, as Corvette Clubs grew in membership and in numbers, a handful of flagship organizations developed to provide others with a guiding body for everything from sanctioning events to restoration specifications, and even insurance.
During planning for Corvette Funfest 2017, Mid America Motorworks’ Chief Cheerleader, Mike Yager made a realization regarding those ten umbrella organizations.
“It occurred to me that the Presidents of these governing organizations have never appeared together at any one show or event,” Mike said. “I imagined the knowledge they could share as representatives of more than 100,000 Corvette Club members from around the world. Of course, my next move was to start making phone calls and get them all to Corvette Funfest!”
The Corvette Funfest Expert Panel will welcome Dave Heinemann from National Council of Corvette Clubs; Billy Brooks from International Council of Corvette Clubs; Armetta Jones (aka AJ) from United Council of Corvette Clubs; Duff Parson and Royce Martin from Ohio Corvette Club Alliance; Dave Kaiser from Northwest Association of Corvette Clubs; Cindy Wilcox from Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs - Eastern Region; Keith Gutenberg from Canadian Council of Corvette Clubs - Western Region; Mike Ingham from National Corvette Restorers Society; and Max Brockhouse from Solid Axle Corvette Club.
For the first time in Corvette history, these giants within the hobby will converge to discuss everything from the basics of keeping Corvette Clubs in tip-top shape, to hosting Club events, to choosing a charity to support and no doubt sharing great anecdotal stories. This is a rare opportunity for Corvette Funfest attendees to hear first-hand how six decades of Corvette culture was created from the ground up.
Don't miss the 2017 Corvette Funfest Expert Panel on the Small Funfest Stage, Saturday at 11:00am.

Corvette Funfest Yearbook Will Include 2017 Highlights
The Corvette Funfest Yearbook is a great way for attendees to relive the previous year’s fun, with pictures and feature stories that reflect on the past year’s event. For Corvette Funfest 2017, registered guests might be surprised to learn there will not be a yearbook in their goody bags at registration. The reason is a very good one: with a little patience, they will receive this year’s book with this year’s highlights!
“We love giving Funfest guests this great take-home piece, but I’ve always wished it included the current year,” said Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader of Mid America Motorworks. “We finally said, ‘Why not make it relevant to this year?’ Now everyone can relive that camaraderie of the event in a few short weeks, instead of waiting for next September to roll around.”
The Corvette Funfest 2017 Yearbook will combine highlights from 2016 and 2017, covering the best of both years. All registered 2017 attendees will receive their books - at no additional cost - by mail just in time for the holidays. They will be able to page through to find Celebrity Choice photos, concert shots, Install Dome and Fun Dome highlights, Club pictures and more from both years. In future years, the Yearbooks will be sent out following Corvette Funfest to commemorate that year’s event.

Charity Event Raises Funds for Fear Nothing
During this year’s Corvette Funfest, Mike and Laurie Yager welcomed Corvette enthusiasts and local community members to their home for a Luau-themed Charity Event. The annual Charity Event is open to the public, as well as the Corvette community, and this year raised funds for Fear Nothing, an Effingham area organization that fights the battle against cancer.
With support in the form of staffing, auction items and catering from the Thelma Keller Convention Center, Mid America Motorworks was able to make a sizable donation to Fear Nothing. Jodi Waymoth, the founder of Fear Nothing, visited Mid America Motorworks’ Corporate Campus to receive a check in the amount of $31,673.
"I’m proud to support Fear Nothing, because cancer is such a far-reaching disease. On a personal note, I’m also honored to support an organization that was created by someone who I respect and consider one of my dear friends, Jodi Waymoth,” said Mike Yager, Chief Cheerleader and founder of Mid America Motorworks. “We also want to thank the Thelma Keller Convention Center for once again bringing their level of excellence to the event and helping make it an amazing night!”
Each year, Mid America Motorworks hosts a Charity Event during Corvette Funfest to benefit an organization within the Corvette industry or local to the Effingham Community. This year’s selection of Fear Nothing bridges the span between those groups. Fear Nothing directs 50% of its funds to support local cancer patients and the other 50% to fund private cancer research.
The Charity Event was set against the backdrop of the Yagers’ iconic Chevrolet Bowtie swimming pool. The evening’s festivities included a silent and live auction; authentic Polynesian dancing; tributes to survivors and those who lost their fight; Rum and Bourbon tastings by Sweet Lucy; cocktails and hors d'oeuvres; and more.

World’s Fastest Pinstriper Comes to Corvette Funfest
World’s Fastest Pinstriper Comes to Corvette Funfest
Bring your helmets, glove box lids, fuel rail covers, cell phone cases and more! Mid America Motorworks and Corvette Funfest is welcoming the World’s Fastest Pinstriper, Louie Allison to Corvette Funfest. Louie will be joined by fellow pin stripper and friend, Rick Losh, to stripe small items throughout the weekend.
Louie Allison
Louie began pinstriping in the early 1970s. Having started out with a plate of glass, a dagger brush and a can of 1-Shot lettering enamel, he was self-taught at his kitchen table. He always loved the look that pinstriping gave a vehicle and kept pursuing that direction. In the mid 80's, he took his desire full time. In his 30-plus years of pinstriping and lettering, he has worked for such names as Connie and Scott Kalitta, John Force, Doug Herbert, Jack Ostrander, Boyd Cottington and many others. Through his profession he was able to live a lifelong dream of driving a top fuel nitro dragster for Jack Ostrander. His title as the World’s Fastest Pinstriper comes from going more than 300 MPH on a quarter mile. Now retired from professional drag racing, he spends his time focusing on his pinstriping and lettering. During his career, he has been inspired by working with such greats as Rick Losh, John Pugh and Ron Avers. He feels as though he has been truly blessed with his profession. Recently, Louie was honored at the 2008 Motorcycle Show and Swap Meet by being awarded the Panel Jam Pinstriping contests 'Champion'. Now with the support of his wife Karrie, Louie is building a 1965 GTO, pinstriping, lettering and working car shows with longtime friend Rick Losh.
Rick Losh
Born and raised in Colorado, Rick began lettering vehicles in the 60's. He was heavily influenced by the airbrush and lettering techniques of Ron Avers, Stan Swank and Archie Johnston. Although he was mostly self taught, Rick began his professional sign career in 1974, working as a sign painter for Sign Craft Sign Co. For the next 35 years, Rick lettered and pinstriped race cars, tractor trailers, hot rods, boats and just about everything in between. In 1981, Rick began racing stock cars at Lakeside Speedway. He continued his love of stock car racing by becoming a member of the Rick Carelli/Chesrown Automotive Group Racing Team. While on the crew, Rick was a member of the "Over the Wall Gang." Today, along with his wife Gail, they enjoy fishing and time spent with their dogs. In the past 12 years, Rick has enjoyed working alongside his friend Louie Allison, The World’s Fastest Pinstriper.
Together they have forged a team whose work complements and inspires one another’s. Bring your Corvette and automotive parts or memorabilia to have Louie and Rick create a one-of-a-kind design. Both artists express their thanks to the family, friends and clientele who have helped them develop colorful and fulfilling careers.

1954 Corvair Re-Creation Motorama Car
General Motors Motorama shows were the pinnacle of the automotive hobby, where prototype and concept vehicles were unveiled to crowds of enthusiasts. One such vehicle, a 1954 Corvair Re-Creation Motorama Car, will be on display at Corvette Funfest 2015! Attendees can step back in time to the original Motorama shows all weekend with this replica Motorama showcar.

Charity Event Details Announced
Jodi Waymoth was a part of the Mid America Motorworks family for 13 years. Like most of us here, she wore many hats, starting out as a Customer Service Representative in 1995 and transitioning to Sales and Customer Service Team Leader, and then to Mike Yager’s Assistant.
In 2006, Jodi was diagnosed with stage-3 colon cancer at age 30. Nearly two years later, she faced yet another cancer diagnoses, this time in the form of stage-2 breast cancer. Through her journey with cancer, Jodi made the difficult decision to leave Mid America Motorworks and become a full time mother to her children, who were just one and three at the time. She also found a new calling in life, providing assistance and support to other cancer patients through an organization she created called “Fear Nothing.”
We are honored to support our friend Jodi and name Fear Nothing as this year’s Corvette Funfest Charity Event beneficiary. Since its inception in 2006, Fear Nothing has raised and distributed roughly $200,000 for cancer patients and research. It’s no secret that cancer touches the lives of millions around the world.
As always, the Charity Event is a bridge between our Corvette friends and our Community. That makes Fear Nothing a perfect choice! The 501(c) 3 organization directs 50% of their fundraising proceeds to local patients enduring treatment and the other 50% to private research programs and/or trials in an effort to effect the most change in the fight against cancer.
This year’s Charity Event promises a beach party with a Luau theme! Scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18th at Mike and Laurie Yager’s home, the evening will include drinks, Hawaiian appetizers, a silent auction and a chance to meet some of the biggest names in the Corvette industry. Tickets are $100 per person and are now available.

Beach Boys Hits at Corvette Funfest
When muscle cars and music reigned supreme in the 1950s and 1960s, the Corvette and the Beach Boys both secured their places in pop culture. That relationship continues today, when Corvette Funfest welcomes original Beach Boys Lead Guitarist David Marks with support from the Surf City Allstars to the Funfest Amphitheater stage on Saturday, Sept. 19th. The Surf City All Stars have all appeared, played and sang lead vocals with both the Beach Boys and the Jan & Dean Band, promising to make this a must-attend concert!
David Marks was one of the six original Beach Boys and was present for the first Beach Boys recordings in 1961. When the band went on their first tour in 1962, Brian Wilson stayed home to write songs and David toured in his place. He played on the first four albums and appeared on album cover artwork, including the "Surfer Girl" album, second from the left. He reunited with the Beach Boys in 2012 for their 50th Anniversary Tour, singing and playing hits like "Getcha Back" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" to audiences around the world
The Surf City Allstars band is the only band with members who have all played and sang lead vocals with both the Beach Boys and the Jan & Dean Band. Members of the Surf City Allstars were even taught lead vocals by Beach Boys legends, Mike Love and Brian Wilson.

King of Kustomizers Attends Corvette Funfest
Every year, tens of thousands of Corvette enthusiasts flock to Corvette Funfest to celebrate the hobby. This year, they will also have the chance to meet a legend in the automotive industry – George Barris, creator of Barris Kustom Industries. As a special VIP guest at Corvette Funfest, George will present seminars, share his passion for the automotive industry, and sign t-shirts, posters, yearbooks and other Corvette Funfest memorabilia. George will also be autographing other Barris memorabilia for a fee. As the King of Kustomizers, George will present one Best Kustom Award each day during Funfest, highlighting those enthusiasts who make their Corvettes truly one-of-a-kind.
George's career as customizer began at the age of 14, when he was paid $10 to put cat-eye taillights on a 1932 Ford. "That's my challenge. I'm going to be a customizer and make money," he said.
From there, he customized a variety of cars, many of them his own. George established Barris Kustom Ind. – drawing on his Greek heritage for the unique spelling – and quickly became known as an expert customizer. He raced several of his cars and his designs caught the attention of the movie industry.
