A Celebration of Corvette's 100th Anniversary on its 60th

This year we celebrated Corvette’s 60th Anniversary with a time capsule containing the country’s most unique Corvette memorabilia – not to be opened until the American’s sports cars’ 100th anniversary in 2053. The items selected for the time capsule were showcased throughout Corvette Funfest 2012, from September 13-16.

NEW Looks and Features for the Fun Dome

Serving as the one-stop-shop for Corvette lifestyle and apparel items, the gigantic retail store boasted a new look this year. Walking into the Fun Dome felt much like walking through a Corvette lover's own home. The Fun Dome featured a bedroom, library, and office filled with Corvette home décor items such as shelves, desks, rugs, lamps, and even a Corvette child’s bed! We even included a Corvette Christmas display showing a Holiday Room filled with Corvette ornaments, stockings, and other festive décor.

Clearance Tent - Bigger and Better than Ever

Located just north of the Fun Dome, all of our discontinued lifestyle and apparel items were sold at absolute bottom prices. We included only top-rate clearance items; no returns or defects! Additional discount items were brought in throughout the weekend, offering new and fresh inventory for repeat shoppers. The Clearance Tent was not to be missed!

The Quest. The legend Unveiled.

For Corvette enthusiasts around the world, the thrill of the hunt is a familiar feeling. For one son, the pursuit of the car of his father’s dreams was far more than just an adrenaline rush.

Chip Miller, co-founder of Corvettes at Carlisle, was captivated by the historic 1960 class winning #3 Corvette of the famed Le Mans 24-hour Endurance Race in France and mystified by its unknown whereabouts.

Driven by Corvette passion, he set out to track down and restore the 1960 Corvette of Le Mans glory with the ultimate vision of the return of original car and driver to streets of Le Mans. In the midst of his pursuit, when Chip Miller fell ill with a mostly unheard of disease, Amyloidosis, the adventure took a turn for the worse. In the dawn of his father’s passing, Lance Miller vowed to carry on his father’s dream. The Quest, written, produced and directed by Corvette enthusiast Michael Brown, beautifully captures the awe-inspiring tale of Lance Miller’s acquisition of the 1960 #3 Corvette and its remarkable return to Le Mans with the original 1960 driver, John Fitch, turning his father’s dream into reality.

The heart-stirring, hair-raising journey of Lance Miller driven to fulfill his father’s wish came to life at the Effingham Performance Center. Setting itself apart from screenings before, Corvette Funfest 2012 hosted the car that made The Quest possible. For the first time ever, in addition to the showing of the documentary, the 1960 #3 Corvette was unveiled for those in attendance to revel in all its glory. The famous #3 Corvette was accompanied by other timeless treasures at an exclusive Classic Car Show for all automotive enthusiasts to enjoy.

Proceeds of the screening were donated the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation. The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation’s mission is to increase awareness and understanding of Amyloidosis to result in earlier detection and better quality of life for those afflicted with the disease with the ultimate goal of finding a cure. A portion of the proceeds was also be donated to TREC, Trail Recreation Effingham County. TREC strives to promote an active lifestyle by providing recreational activities through exercise trails and has been a beneficiary of past Funfest charity events.
